This week-end, we went for a drive up the lake road, known as the Lake Huron Circle Tour. The weather was on and off rain, but when we hit the turn out, it was beautiful. We live in Michigan, the land of the Great Lakes, with Lake Huron being one of the most beautiful blue lakes around as you can see from the pictures.
Lake Huron runs up the eastern side of the state. Unfortunately, unlike the western side of Michigan, people are allowed to build homes on its shores. Little is left, like this turnout, for the public to enjoy. There are some beaches, but more and more land is taken up with private property.Sunday, June 21, 2009

Hi Laurie.
What great pictures.
There is something about water that is so calming.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great week.
Lois
What great pics! It must be nice living that close to the water! Thanks for the commiseration on the mess in my room! Too bad that we can't just "beam" ourselves into each other's lives and help with the messes!

So very beautiful Laurie. Glad there are at least some public places left to soak in the scenery.
What beautiful pictures. I love the water, but haven't spent much time around the great lakes. I need to get up there!
How nice to live so close to a lake. I live near several rivers.
What wonderful pictures and you are so lucky to live so close. Sharon
private beaches on the great lakes and on the ocean shores should be illegal. it is barbaric. the rich get everything and the little guy -- well, you stay away. there are movements around the country for open access to shorelines. i am all for that. here in chicago the north shore has all private beaches and the new buffalo mi homes have private beaches. it is sooo wrong.
