Sunset

The weather this week has been so beautiful,
Temps in the 70's, clear nights,
have brought the most amazing sunsets.
These were taken tonight on my way home,
Gorgeous colors, peaceful skies.

Peas in a Pod

I went in to make my bed this morning,
but how was I to disturb this?

Daphne of course, had to go in for the attack,
she's such an instigator!  Toby didn't stand a chance,
he just lays there, what else is he going to do!?
But these two aren't phased. Tyler and Andy are
best friends, and where one is you'll find the other.

Gifts

Don't you just love trips to the mailbox, when you find special treasures awaiting?
This week, I had such an experience,  and
love what I found there!
Marilyn, from Delights of the Heart
is a connoisseur of tea, and has tasted
this delight from all over the world.
She was kind enough to send me two
samples, which I am eager to taste!
Visit her blog, she is such a beautiful person
who writes her posts from the heart.
Through FaceBook, I was able to connect
with a dear friend from high school, who has since
made his mark in the music world, having been
nominated twice for a Grammy.
Chip sent me a package of 4 of his awesome cds.
The one he composed and played on is some
of the most beautiful piano music I have ever heard, it
was in honor of his mother.  She's a lucky lady!
I've enjoyed listening to all, and am also lucky to
own all these treasures, from two special people,
Thank-you both for making the world a brighter place.

Stormy Weather

While swimming in Robyn's pool today, we noticed some bad weather
coming in from the east. As we were under severe thunder storm
watches, we decided it would be a good thing to get out!
The storms came in rather quickly, and for the next
several hours, thunder, lightening and heavy
downpours remained.
They just stopped a few minutes ago, around 10:30 p.m.
but are expected on and off through the night.
Myself, I love a good thunderstorm so it didn't
bother me any, I left the curtains open to enjoy
the view as the sky lit up continuously.
With Chip, Daphne, and my cats Toby and Andy
all huddled together around my head and at my side.
Ahhhh, contentment!

It Must Be True!

I get a charge out of watching my nephew Jacob's goats.
With all the pasture they have, thick, rich grass, clover;
they still prefer to stick their head through the fence.
So it must be true what they say,
"The grass is always greener on
the other side of the fence!"

Where Do You Go to Be at Peace?

Marilyn, in her blog Delights of the Heart,
asked a couple days ago where you go to be at peace.
To answer her, I will share my spot.
I have a prayer and meditation garden, that I planted
after the death of my sister Marti.
It has become my outdoor chapel, my sanctuary
where I go every morning to sit in its
silence, and say my prayers and meditate
on the beauty that surrounds me.
The wind chimes along side me are my chapel bells,
and the birds and the breeze blowing through
the pines that surround me add
a beautiful chorus, my own personal choir.
The stone in front of St. Francis was
painted by Marti just days before her death,it reads,
"May the words of my mouth
and the meditations of my heart
be pleasing in your sight Oh Lord,
my rock."
Yes this is where I sit in peace, and
give thanks to God, pray for those in need,
and begin my day.
Where do you find peace?

I'm trying to post comments!

Does anyone else have a problem with comments not going through on others blogs? I have been catching up, but getting rejections in my e-mail.

I'm Back!

I know, it's been awhile, but after the death of my sister last year, I sort of lost interest. But things are getting better, and I'm moving along. Miss her terrible though.
But this little Haven Rae of Sunshine has filled an empty heart with so much joy!
I was able to wrap my arms around her this summer,
and she wrapped herself around my heart!
Kiley is a fantastic little Momma, I'm so proud of her.
My grand daughters are so beautiful,
and are the joys of my life!
And now I have little Haven Rae
added to my little family.
and life is complete!

A New Love

On March 10th, my little family was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Haven Rae.
What makes her very special to me, is she is my first great grand daughter.
A little darling, with tons of hair! She is surrounded with so much love,
I can't wait to meet her this summer and get some Great Mimi hugs in!

Time Fur Fun!

During this bitter cold, snowy weather, my furry kids fill
my day with entertainment.
Quite frequently, Toby loves to watch t.v.
and at times interact with the programming!
Family Feud was his choice on this particular day.
(though we have quit watching it since it is no
longer what I consider family friendly)
Daphne, whom Ken didn't want me to keep,
has become quite spoiled.  He bought her
this little outfit because she could wear it
through February.  He really does enjoy her
as much as I do.  Though quite hyper and a
major pest to the others, we all love her dearly!
Hope everyone is surviving the winter,
I know my "kids" help out that way!

Frosted Window Panes

The chicken house windows are covered in frost.
I love the leafy swirly patterns it creates.
Fortunate for the ladies, the heat lamp keeps
them cozy inside their little home.
I wonder if chickens get cabin fever?

My Word for the Year

It took a while to post it, but my word for this year is Purge.  Last year it was forgiveness, and it was a trial for me. Not only for forgiving others, but forgiving myself.  I don't know if I've been truly forgiven by anyone, but in all the terrible things that happened last year, I would hope so.  Forgiving myself though was the hard part.
This year I chose purge. I need to not only purge my house of unnecessary things, but my life in general. After the death of my sister and mother, I feel that it's time to bring more peace to my life. So here goes, I'll be letting you know how that goes.

Christmas Treasures

Today I finally decided to take down the tree,
and store my ornaments for another year.
But before I do, I want to show you
some of my favorite treasures.
Forever loved will be the ornaments
of my childhood that hung from our
family tree.  Losing Mom, I'll treasure
these always.
These are porcelain hummingbird ornaments
I collected from Bradford Exchange,
I've had these rocking horses for some time, and
hope to collect more in the future.
These two peacocks are from my nieces,
it started out as a joke several years ago,
but when they bought these for me this year
I have to say I really quite love them!
What is a tree without birds?
This gorgeous hummingbird is from
my niece Robyn.  It's so beautiful, isn't it?

These are just some of my snowmen.
And these crystals are from my son Chad.
I love how they catch the light on the tree,
and of course he knows my love
for hummingbirds!
Now the tree is packed away, and I already
look forward to next Christmas, when
they can be displayed again,
hopefully under better circumstances.

Baby It's Cold Outside!!

It's so nice being in the middle of this Arctic Blast!
 Not!
Though it is pretty, the temps are a source to
be reckoned with!
Bobby seems to enjoy it though, he loves
to roll in it.
Chip loves to tunnel through it.
Me, I love to stay inside where it's
a little warmer.
Hot coffee is my friend!
