For the Love of Books

I have two nieces who love to read.  Kayla, above, is in second grade and reads at a fifth grade level.  She's into chapter books, and one of her favorite things to do is curl up with a good read.
If my niece Claire gets a book for any occasion, all other gifts go by the wayside
 and she's in book heaven.
Good for both of you my little ladies!

That's what I love to see!! You would not believe the parents who tell me they don't have time for their fourth graders to read. But they have time for dance, piano, football, soccer, etc., etc. If they would only realize that reading will take them further than any of those things!

Laurie that is precious and so good. By the way your header is fantastic. You asked about the card,
I hope to get the card on Etsy today. I shall also put it on my Wildflower Shoppe. You can find that button on the top right side of my blog. About Teddy ,so far Stretch is winning to battle. I truly think that chipmunk waits for a chance to terrorize Teddy. He is very demanding about me keeping the bird feeders filled. He will come to the studio window to let me know to fill the feeders. LOL

I remember the joy of receiving Nancy Drew books when I was younger. I got lost in them for hours. It's good to see kids enjoying reading!

What good news this is! I am still a voracious reader. It breaks my heart to see children who are no longer encouraged to use their real abilities; books are fundamental to their lives in this way. Ignorance is most assuredly dangerous.
