Role Reversal

When baby Preston was born nine months ago, Mom was happy to welcome a new little life into the world. She still had some pep, could walk without trouble, and seemed to be doing fine considering she was 83. How things change in so short a time. Today, Mom is frail, in poor health, and finding it hard to do the simple things she did even then. She has a Dr. appointment on Friday, to see if we can find out what is wrong. She can't walk short distances without tiring, she's barely eating, and spends the majority of her day sleeping. Her memory is getting worse, and she's just lost her lust for life. This concerns me and my siblings. So much so that Ken and I want her to move in with us. We no longer feel she should be living on her own, Mom really needs to have someone looking after her. She hasn't said no, is just concerned she'll be a nuisance. Ken and I don't feel that way. We'd rather have her here where we can monitor her. Where she is now, we can't. So please say a prayer for Peggy. We want her home.

Oh Laurie I am so sorry to hear this news! I will certainly pray for Miss Peggy as well as for you and Ken. Hope the check up finds the reason...could be bladder infection without the UTI signs of pressure and burning with tinkling. My M-I-L gets it and no inkling of it with tinkling but she just loses her zip, then fever, chills, upset tummy, achy...more flu or viral-like symptoms.

Oh Laurie, you've got my prayers! We are going through just this same thing (Randy's Mom, Grandma Evelyn, will be 79 soon and she lives with us for that very reason! ) Once ground rules {or boundries} are established, the living arrangements are perfect! By ground rules I mean she doesn't need to do my laundry but she can iron shirts because she loves that..and boundries? She loves to garden and buy the flowers and I keep the house plants alive (barely!) It all works out and we are happy to be allowed to "give back" to her for all she's given us (like my dear hubby, Randy!)

I will Laurie. Maybe the doctor's appointment will shed some light on the situation. I was just glancing over at AverettLadyNana and I was going to mention that, too. My mother went through that and once they figured it out, she was doing much better. Keep us informed on this situation. Diane

Sorry to hear this Laurie I will pray for Miss Peggy and hope it is as simple as new medicine. U just have to say "Mom your moving in with us and there's no questioning it, because we want you here" Sounds like it could be the heart since she is so tired and can't get around. Hopefully she just needs iron :) Take care Sister I'm praying.

I will keep you all in my prayers. How lucky for her that you are able to have her live with you. I hope the doctor can get her feeling better soon.

It is a sad time when we have to watch our parents decline. I can understand how you feel. It will be good to have her close by.
