Can you believe that beautiful shade trees have been uprooted for this!?
And this, which I would like to call "Viagra Malfunction"
And this? It looks like part of the space station plummeted to earth and empailed the sidewalk.

All I can say about this, is the orange looks pretty against the blue sky. And these are only a few. I'll be taking more pictures as I can, it's so hideous to me that these would be called culture, that we should "appreciate" it, and that it should bring people downtown to view the magnificent sculptures, thus bringing more business to its shops. Really!? Have they bumped their heads!? Maybe I'm behind the times, but I can truly say I appreciate art. And This just ain't it!

$15,000 a piece? Oh my goodness ~ and how many is there? Sometimes you wonder why city officials approve of such things for the use of the communities money.
The city where I live spent $50,000 on a 'logo' ~ that they paid a company in different province of Canada to come up with!! I would suggest they could have had a $1000 prize for any of the city citizens to come up with something just as good or better.
sigh.... perhaps we should run for town council next time.... :)
Try to have a Happy Day Laurie!

LOL... reminds me of our guide in Ireland as he felt the same way. We'd be going down the road and he'd comment on the "art" placed alongside the highway...lolol! Indeed, some people's view of art is... um... interesting?
Good grief! We also see this kind of thing at major universities but it's just not beautiful art in my opinion. However, some must love it???
Enjoy you day!
Hugs,

Oh, what a crime to put out the trees for that?! After all, Mother Nature and her sidekick, God, have dome a pretty good job of "Arting up" the outdoors..
I have to agree with you Laurie, this is not good art to me. Some people think that anything they throw together is art and I don't think it is.
They have a lot of art around here on Main Street and on the plaza but I think it's all loaned. Then sometimes people will buy the piece and have it permanently installed. I'm very fond of a couple pieces and some I'm not - horses heads for one - reminds me of The Godfather. Diane
That's the most hideous art? I've ever seen! Oh yeah I can't wait to fly over on my next vacation to see that c$#p. Who got to decide on this stuff? I'd raise holy heck to the newspaper. Here they took the old downtown and made everthing old fashioned and then the art came...same as your problem. aghhhh
HAHAHAHA love this post! =D
I like trees better too, and they are cheaper and green......what about a community garden. call it living sculpture and let it feed people.....
