Saturday, I had to do a wedding shower cake for our friends daughter. Steph is about 26 now, I've known her since she was 2. I don't know where the time went. The first time I saw her, she was playing with her brother in the sand box. Now she's a law school graduate, marrying a medical student graduate! Her brother completes his law classes in May. Great kids, I love them both.
Then today, I have to give a sample of the cake I'll be doing for a wedding in June. This one is a layer of home made carrot and a layer of homemade banana. Cream cheese icing over all and covered in fondant. I made the shells from candy molds and white chocolate, then brushed them with different colors of pearl dust to give them a real feel. The pearls are also fondant rolled in the dust. Of course, this is just a mock up. The real cake will have the pearls put on like strings of pearls, a clam with pearls in it, and I just put the extra chocolates on top, the real cake will have their cake topper. It will be 4 tiers. I'm hoping this is ok, but I'll make any changes they want.

Your cakes are so pretty, Laurie. I really love the seashell one. Be sure and post a picture of the real thing, too. Diane
Amazing Laurie! I just love these to death. The flowers on the first cake are so delicate and dainty. And I really like the colors. The schell cake is just awesome and how you describe the pearls being linked together and the clam, well she is going to be thrilled. It's just so wonderful this blogging stuff you get to see peoples talents shine through when you had no idea! Honey they are just as good as the bakery's that specialize in the fondant or better in my opinon. I can't wait to see more.
Both cakes look great! I always love the look of the fondant--you can do so much with it. Thanks for sharing.
You are so talented Laurie! I am playing catch up this week, and have enjoyed your posts.
