I have sworn from the beginning that I would not discuss politics or religion on my blog. Nothing stirs controversy more than airing views or beliefs that are personal. Yet, I can't keep my feelings to myself any longer. I am so disappointed in the behavior of the far rights that are tearing this country apart. Spreading fear, unfounded beliefs, disrespect and hatred toward our President. Causing uproars, disturbances at public forums, doing all possible to bring down the ratings of a man who was elected as our leader, in order to accomplish their own agendas. Where is this coming from? Why is this slander being spread throughout this country? What kind of people follow the rantings of a celebrity radio host, who himself proclaims he wants our president to fail? Where are those who oppose this behavior in the name of their political party? What happened to decency, respect, bipartisanship? I have cried so many tears, out of hurt, pity, and pain that our country has come to this. I ache for a man that took this job, was elected by the people, spoke to millions gathered at his inauguration, and so loved, only to be chastised, criticized for the most ridiculous reasons, the latest being today for addressing our students, encouraging them to study and stay in school. I listened in disbelief at the parents who were keeping their children home from school because of the ridiculous fear instilled in them that he is another dictator. I can't watch or listen to the news anymore, it hurts so badly. I can't open e-mails from family members who chose to send this garbage knowing my views. I don't know if anyone reading this right now disagrees with me. If you do I can't apologize. It's time to come together as a nation again, in support of our President, not in hate, and so often in the name of God. It's time to stop.

I totally agree with you on this one! I think it is the people that can't accept that a black man is their president and they are scared. So very sad!
Right on Sister!!! And I agree with Marilyn, they just can't accept a black man. Old hates and new ones are flying all over the place. My husband lives and breathes this stuff, newspaper, on-line, T.V. it's time to turn the news off and take a big long brake or you will be driven crazy!! T.V. is like a magnet, it's time people sat down with some good old fashioned history books. People have to short a memories and need to realize the old ways are the best ways. Stop and smell the roses from time to time people!! Just calm down and take a big breath and remember President Roosevelets words "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" Love that guy even if his personal life was not so great, he was a great leader. Love ya Laurie, Peace out, Pearl
AMEN Laurie! My husband and I were talking about this not an hour ago as we were getting ready for the day. It's not about what is best for the country any longer. Nope, it's all about discrediting him and getting back into power. The fear that is being perpetuated on networks like FOX is embarrassing and makes me stand with jaw dropped. They do nothing but create these God awful rumors and then sit back and stir the frenzy. I feel so badly for President Obama and for our nation. What have we come to? I, like you, have to just stop watching it so much as it makes me so sad and weary.
I dont know. I remember when the man I voted for was in how the left party did nothing but tear him down. Some of them even fabricated stories to try and discredit him and they got in big trouble for it. I think no matter whos in the opposite side is going to do what it can to make that person look bad. Wether its right or wrong.
I SOOOOOOO totally agree with you! Every time I hear about it on the news (and a LOT of it in Utah)I get angry..no a usual emotion for me..but I seriously cannot believe what I have hearing..things like the news tease last night "Can we respect the presidency while not the man?" WHAT? Oh, this is getting my Irish up so bad..I want to scream at the people .."what the hell are you thinking???" Never, ever have I been so embarrassed for our country and never have I felt so bad for a president, one who wants change, strength, reason and intelligence for our children and grandchildren..sorry. I'm fired up all over again..
People, listen to yourselves...and use your least used instrument...your brain.
whew..the soapbox is now free..
Laurie, You hit the nail on the head. I felt so bad for President Obama about the school speech. People reacted like it was somebody like Castro. I kept thinking what if it was President Nixon or Kennedy or Eisenhower or even Clinton. People wouldn't have reacted the way they did.
I also agree about TV. Don't even bother turning it on unless you're prepared to be brainwashed and fed what they want. Don't expect to get real information. Our local paper is the same way. They don't report anything but honey and roses and seldom put any negative stuff that's going on in the community. They don't want to discourage people who might want to move here. They want them to think this is just a wonderful little community with no crime. The only reason they even mentioned that murder is that is was too big for them. And then there's the pharmaceutical ads-GRRRRRRRRRR.
By the way, Laurie, I love your new banner. It's so pretty and serene. I loved the last one too but we have to clean and rearrange, don't we.
