Flora and Fauna

I also love taking photos from nature, the flora and the fauna.
If you click on any of the pictures, you can go
through them all on a larger scale.
Seagulls are abundant in our area,
as we are on the shores of Lake Huron, and the St. Clair River.
My sister Wendy has some gorgeous flowers in her back yard,
This one in a friends yard.
I enjoy my flowers, and have grown many different species.
What can I say, I love chipmunks!  When my sisters and I go camping
I always take along a bag on nuts to feed my fury friends
that at times have followed me around the campground!

Apple blossom time in our yard.

Flowers and one of my gardens.  I really need to plant that one again!
I love bumble bees.  They're so pretty, and to me add beauty to my gardens.

Queen Anne's Lace.  It reminds me of sparklers.  So dainty!
I really thought these guys were pretty when I first saw them, till I realized
these Japanese beetles were killing my plants.  Don't like them anymore!
Dragon flies are in plenty at my brother's house,
 so many different varieties.
Another insect that fascinates me.
It looks larger in the picture, but this little
hummingbird nest was in his maple tree.
My morning glory's from a couple years ago.  They loaded my arbor!
 Love this little beetle!

Well Mr. Snapper that lives in the front yard drain, says greetings,
while I say I hope you enjoy these pictures!

Birds, Bugs, and Butterflies

Over the years, I have taken many pictures of my favorite subjects,
today I will share Birds, Bugs, and Butterflies.

I enjoy the many beautiful creatures that God has blessed us with.
Even the little beetle floating on a leaf in the neighbors pool,
magnified highly so he could be seen.
The heron spotted in my brothers trees,
a swan that one year decided to reside in a
pond down the road; the many
birds that frequent my feeders,
and butterflies that remind me my loved ones
who have passed are still with me.
What are your favorite photo subjects?

Rain, Rain Go AWAY!

It's been a very rainy spring, the grounds are over saturated.
But I still enjoy watching the birds from my
sun porch windows.  These 4 juvenile sparrows
decided to take a break in their flight lessons
to rest on a tree twig. Backs to the camera of course!
My hummingbirds (yes I claim ownership!)
have been enjoying the feeders.  Even in
the pouring rain you will see them sipping
sweet nectar,  Love it!
I hope you are all enjoying the last of your
week-end, stay dry!!

Yard and Garden Work

It's been a busy week-end, cleaning and planting in my gardens.
Ken finally put my arbor back up,
the burning bushes have really taken
off this year.  I planted wisteria on
either side of the arbor. I can't wait
for the blossoms to open, and see it fill
the whole structure and the fences.
He also added the fence to the back of my rock garden.
I cleaned it out, and am happy to see my irises
starting to bloom.
Marti had given me several of her irises, this is
one of my favorite colors.
The trellis is loaded with honey suckle flowers,
and the hummingbirds have been really
enjoying their nectar.  It sits in my garden to the
right of our front door.
To the left of the door the plants are growing
equally as well.  My Spider Wart has taken off,
and the cat mint is beautiful.
I love bumble bees, and this one kept me
entertained for some time as it went from
flower to flower on the cat mint.

Coming in for a landing!
I put my little cement angel bench here
and planted a small barrel of flowers to
sit on it..  The Spider Wart is also in
full bloom.
My prayer garden, planted in memory of Marti,
is once again taking shape.  I've planted several new
flowers in the bed, and hung a plant there .
I'm very pleased with how it has turned out.
Now I'm ready to tackle the beds at the sides
of the house.  After my knees get a rest.

Then and Now

I just got home from Jay and Cheryl's,
another awesome time with my brother and sister in love.
This picture was taken a couple years ago, shortly before
Marti died.  I miss her dearly.
Pictured from left are me, Marti Jay, my sister Kathy, and Cheryl.
With my other sister Wendy, we had so many good times
together.  I know she is with us in spirit though,
and the next time we are all together in Mikado,
she'll be with us also in spirit.

Sew What?

I have been busy at my sewing machine since last year.
While visiting my sister-in-law up north,
many an hour is spent on our projects.
This little turtle pin cushion was really fun to make.
This is the quilt I made for my great grand daughter Haven.
Hard to believe she is a year old already!
I did this memory quilt wall hanging
for my niece/daughter Becky,
featuring her three adorable kids!
When time permits, I work on myblue bird quilt,
made of 8 different blue bird squares.
This quilt was done for a second cousin
of mine, she and her daughter have had
several health issues; the large hearts are
for her, the small hearts for her daughter.
For Tara's graduation, I made this in her
favorite color, purple.
This year is Kiley's graduation, and I am
making hers now.
I'm also in a couple different fb quilting groups.
We've been having mug rug swaps, this is one I
made for my secret swap sister, under the theme
"April Showers Bring May Flowers."
I'll be leaving tomorrow for my trip up north to see
my brother and sister (in law).  We'll see what
sewing projects we do this time!
I'll be back Wednesday!

White Coral Bells

White coral bells
upon a slender stalk,
Lilies of the Valley
by my garden walk.
Oh don't you wish,
that you could hear them ring;
That will only happen when
the fairies sing!
I hear them ring!
Do you believe in fairies?
I do.
